Does a Black Suit Go With a Navy Dress
Black Tux with Navy dress?
FH wants to wear a black tux for the wedding but the bridal party will be wearing navy. Maybe it's just me but I was always taught black and navy clash too much and was thinking gray for the men. I'm awful with colors lol so maybe someone else has insight on if black and navy would look okay! Thanks

It's fine. Tuxes come in three colors, so maybe you would like one of the others better. The summer rig is a white (really off white) dinner jacket with black tux pants. I don't know when you are getting married but these can be a godsend in the heat because the construction is lighter. Then there is midnight blue, which is really indistinguishable from black. It looks better in photos because it won't get a green sheen like black can sometimes. The online guide The Black Tie Guide has lots of pictures and details if you want to compare all three.

In my opinion I don't like black and navy together. My bridesmaids are wearing navy dresses and the guys are wearing this (photo from Pinterest)

Personally, I think it's fine. Black tuxedos are a classic choice.

I also am not a fan of black and navy together. I would suggest a deep charcoal.

Black and navy don't go together great. If bridesmaids dresses aren't purchased yet, I'd change their color so your FH can wear what he wants.

They go together beautifully. Black tuxes are classic and classy. This is different than your typical outfit. Also consider dress material... a satin type will show a lot lighter and have more contrast.

This is on Pinterest, I think it looks beautiful. A lot of the midnight blue tuxes have black lapels, so I don't think it's true that navy and black don't match. Especially if you are having a formal evening wedding I wouldn't go with gray.

My girls are in navy and I was envisioning grey tuxes. Fh thinks they look too much suits so is now in black...rolling with it

Black is a neutral.
It literally matches everything.
I get that it's like wearing mixed metals "never wear gold and silver" but the reality is- they are neutrals. it absolutely CAN work.

My husband wanted to wear a white tux and I laughed. He finally listened to me and went with a darker grey. A lighter grey would look really nice with the blue in my opinion. We all wore Converse too sidenote: is it a daytime or nighttime wedding?

My girls were in marine and the guys were in black tuxes with marine vests and ties. They looked awesome together.

Black and navy is fine. My bridesmaids will be in navy, groomsmen in black.

I think it's fine! I am a bit biased though as I am wearing navy and FH is wearing the black suit he already owns.
